Seagate is on track to release 20 Terabyte (TB) hard drives as early as December 2020. Their ultimate goal is to offer 50 TB drives by 2026 using HAMR technology.

Some buyers don’t have faith in their goal as the jump from a 3 TB hard drive to 20 TB took 7 years. However, people are generally positive towards the direction Seagate is heading. They are matching their competitors, some who already offer 20 TB Hard Drives.
Seagate’s 20 TB offering will be thanks to a technology called heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) technology.
Some hard drive enthusiasts point out that there already exists 100 TB Solid State Drives (SSD). Meanwhile old school Hard Disc Drives (HDDs) are lagging behind in terms of storage capacity.
